Designing the Perfect Valentines Tablescape

Struggling to find a restaurant to book for your valentines date? Why not design the perfect night in instead with my beautiful Tablescape décor ideas.

1. Paper Hanging Decorations

Hanging decorations up high creates the illusion of a large, colourful space. These pink and red hearts look gorgeously festive in my windows, and come in several different sizes and shapes. They are a wonderfully simple, but showstopping decorative item, and they fold away easily for next year too! See the link to the ones I chose below

2. Fresh Pink Flowers

It goes without saying that fresh red and pink flowers belong on any romantic tablescape as a centre piece. I went for a blend of magenta, carnation pink and white roses in various clear, glass vases. What is a valentines table without roses? I did throw in a few carnations and tulips for variation, but roses give such a luxury vibe.

3. Pillar Candles

I got very lucky when I found these discounted pillar candles in Tesco for £1.25 each! After Christmas it looks like the popularity of red is somewhat diminished, but it meant I could get lots of different sizes to give the table a festive charm. Less artificial light sets a romantic tone, so I say, the more the candles the better!

4. Disco Balls

Now I did originally plan to get large disco balls – but felt sticking to my budget was more important. These small disco baubles can be hung up high, but I thought mixed up in glasses on the table to catch the candle light would look more glamorous! Here is the link!

5. Some Sweet Touches

Valentines is all about sweet treats, and a cheap and easy way to decorate your table is to get your favourite sweets in to different bowls and dotting them around the place. Love hearts are an absolute must for this occasion. Add a colourful touch to the table!

6. Pretty Table Settings!

I saw these candy pink striped side plates in Primark home and had to get them. Paired with these cute little napkins (also Primark), and golden tea spoons, it’s one of my favourite table settings yet. This vibe is perfect for your Galentine’s night in – and does not break the bank either.

7. Heart Shaped Baked Goods

To show you’ve made considerable effort, why not make a cake or some very simple shortbread biscuits in these cute little heart shapes!! Truly my cake didn’t pass muster, but the shortbread hearts were so so easy. 3 ingredient shortbread and ready roll icing was all it took. I got a paintbrush and some pink food colouring to make some colour patterns on the icing. I’m not much of a baker, but the homemade quality adds to the cuteness of my romantic night in, or at least I think so!

8. Makeshift Ceramics

I saw this amazing tip once about making a cake stand out of mugs and plates. This way you can put together several designs and colours, and easily create the perfect centre piece. These mugs are perfect from H&M home, and it’s much more secure than you’d think. I’ve gone 2 tiers before with sturdy plates and mugs, and it’s a cheap and easy way to create different heights on your table scape

9. Table Confetti

Attention to detail is key. A clean white table cloth helps the hot pinks and reds stand out, and these adorable little kiss confetti pieces from Home Sense catch the light beautifully and draw the eye. Without knowing, it shows this is a Valentines tablescape, and really sets the theme going.

10. Handmade Notes

Nothing says romance more than personal touches and attention to detail. For my table, I wrote out a café sign and a valentines menu (mainly for my video), however you could literally do this for your date night, and would be the cutest touch ever!

11. Candles Of All Shapes & Sizes

Although I’ve already covered pillar candles (which look nice as a collective) I also chose to include some tapered candles for the table, even adding some cute little satin bows for extra detailing. I won the whimsical lottery in Home Sense when finding this hot metallic pink balloon doggy candle. Random but festive details like this make the table look so fun. You know your décor is great when guests want to know where you got things from, and see you as the host with a great eye for detail.

12. Personalised Popcorn Tubs

I had these adorable little popcorn tubs made with me and my boyfriends names on from Etsy! It would be a very cute surprise for a romantic movie night, or even a ‘galentines’ night with all your friends. Personalisation is the way to make all guests feel special.

13. Cake Stands

I do have an ever growing collection of cake stands in my house for all my Tablescapes and décor. The simpler, the better, as it can be applied to many different events. I got all of our favourite biscuits and treats lined up for the ultimate cute movie night in. This is the one I’ve had for years at the link below.

14. Heart-Shaped Glasses

I got these gorgeous little glasses from Next home earlier this year in prep for my valentines table! They are so perfect for a ‘galentines’ evening, or even to use as a little sweet bowls! I took it one step further and got a rose shaped ice mould, and froze some raspberries in for a special, pink touch.
